A lifetime gives each of us something no one else can have: our own collection of experiences, discoveries, mistakes, questions, relationships, beliefs, and lessons learned. Most of it disappears. The Testament Society exists to change that. A Personal Testament is an opportunity to reflect on your life and ask: What have I discovered that is worth leaving behind?
More Than a Life Story
A Personal Testament is not a legal will, and it is not simply an autobiography. It is a place to preserve what a lifetime has taught you - the experiences that changed you, the principles that guided you, the beliefs you arrived at, the mistakes that taught you, the questions you never completely answered, the people and relationships that mattered, and the wisdom you hope someone in another generation might find useful. It does not require a remarkable life or the skills of a polished writer. It requires only a willingness to reflect honestly on the life you have lived and consider what might be worth passing on.
Where Would You Like to Begin?
You do not have to know exactly what your Testament will become before you begin. Start with a memory, a question, a lesson, something you believe, or something you wish you had understood sooner. Gather what you already have and begin discovering what is worth preserving.
Imagine a permanent library where Personal Testaments could be preserved for generations, according to the wishes of their authors. A place where the reflections of an ordinary person could survive long enough to reach a grandchild, a great-grandchild, or an unknown reader a century later.

The Testament Society began as one man's dream and is now taking its first steps toward becoming a reality. There is much to build: resources to help people create Testaments, Testament Guides to assist those who need help, Testamentarians to read and thoughtfully engage with Testaments, and eventually a permanent Testament Library capable of preserving them for generations. You can begin by creating your own Testament, encouraging someone you love to preserve theirs, or helping us do the practical work necessary to bring the Testament Society to life.
